learning to pray...

I've been so challenged recently by the Elijah series that Jon has been teaching at True North Church. I've become extremely motivated by the words of James 5:17... "Elijah was a man with a nature like ours..." or maybe better said... "Elijah was a man JUST LIKE US!"

Elijah offered up some powerful prayers that produced powerful results. His prayers were humble, specific, persistent and expectant. I want my prayers to bold like those of Elijah. I want to be persistent in prayer... pray until God does something like Elijah.

We had a couple of areas set up for prayer yesterday at church and several folks took shifts to pray over prayer cards and other needs. My 15 minutes was challenging for me. As I read through all the hurts, needs, and challenges that people in my own church are experiencing I was convicted of how much I get distracted by my own busy schedule and tend to ignore the needs of others. I want to be one who prays bold prayers to God and expects Him to do great things. I have decided to position myself to be displined to pray for others, for our country, for my church, for my business, for my employees, for our mission and purpose. Join with me and let's pray together and believe God for some great BIG things.

Elijah did it... and he was a man just like us!
